Shell’s man on OGUK board

The mastermind behind Royal Dutch Shell’s £36billion takeover of BG Group has been appointed to the board of industry trade associatio­n Oil and Gas UK (OGUK).

Steve Phimister, who also oversaw the £3billion sale of assets to Chrysaor earlier this year, takes up the position as he enters his new role as vice-president of Shell’s UK and Ireland upstream business unit.

Mr Phimister takes the place of his Shell upstream predecesso­r, Paul Goodfellow, on OGUK’s board of directors, with immediate effect.

Bel Valves’ Neil Kirkbride has served his full five-year tenure as a board member and has now stepped down.
