Police probe as man injured in serious assault
A man has been injured in a serious assault, allegedly involving a weapon, on an Inverness street.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident which happened in the early hours of yesterday morning in the Dalneigh area of the Highland capital.
The victim suffered injuries to his head and body and it is understood that he received treatment at the city’s Raigmore Hospital following the incident.
Police last night said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and appealed for any witnesses to what happened to contact them.
The incident happened on Laurel Avenue at about 1.30am on Friday.
A force spokesman described the incident as a “disturbance” in which “a man was allegedly seriously assaulted with a weapon”.
It is understood that the disturbance happened outside a house on the street, which is one of the main roads through the busy housing estate.
The police spokesman added: “Police are carrying out inquiries in the area and are keen to speak with anyone who was on Laurel Avenue in Inverness at the time of the incident, or who has information that could assist to call Inverness Police on 101 or speak to any officers.
“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestopperson0800555 111.”
He was unable to divulge any further details of the victim, including his age or current condition.
