Reaction: Both sides speak out
Praise and anger followed the judges’ decision in equal measure.
SNP MSP Kate Forbes said: “I’m pleased. My primary concern with windfarms is that those who live and work in the surrounding areas are involved in the decision making and have a say.”
Outdoorsman and broadcaster Cameron McNeish said: “This ruling goes against the whole spirit of the SNH wild land map.”
SCDI Highlands and Islands director Fraser Grieve said: “This development will be a welcome addition to the region’s renewable energy generation and have a positive economic benefit.”
Jim Treasurer, of Friends of the Great Glen, said: “I’m shocked. This is all part of the systematic destruction of one of the world’s finest landscapes.”
Industry watcher Stuart Young said: “It seems all the Scottish Government has to do is say that its targets are more important than anything else and it gets its way. We’re living in a dictatorship.”
