Four-way tie in seniors

-

The Scottish seniors autumn meeting at Nairn Dunbar ended in a four-way tie on 148 involving Maurice Lindsay (Broughty), Stewart Finnie (Royal Aberdeen), Lindsay Gordon (Turnhouse ) and Robert Smith (Nairn).

Joint overnight leader Grant McNab (Lundin) was one shot behind on 149 with Nick Robson (Meldrum House) sixth on 150. David Logie (Craigie Hill) finished in a group of five on 151, aided by an ace at the eighth. RayMcKinnon insists he is taking no credit from the flying start former club Raith Rovers have made to the Championship campaign.

The Dundee United manager will be reunited with his former side today when the Fifers visit Tannadice.

Gary Locke is now in charge and has so far made a success of his stint at Stark’s Park, with Rovers top of the table after three straight wins.

But despite leaving behind most of the squad which have been responsible for that impressive run, McKinnon says Locke is the man who should be receiving all the plaudits.

He said: “I knewlast year that we were three players short of being title contenders becausewehad the nucleus of a solid group, so I’m not surprised by the start they have made.

“I’m taking no credit because Gary has gone in there and added the likes of Bobby Barr, who I think is a great young player. He has recruited well and that is why they are doing well at the top of the league.”

McKinnonalso shrugged off any suggestions he wouldhave split loyalties as he faces up to his former club for the first time since swapping Fife for Tayside.

“I doesn’t change the dynamic that we’re facing Raith,” he said. “It’s the same as any other game for me. We just want to perform well and go win the game.”

Meanwhile, Hibs manager Neil Lennon could hand goalkeeper Ofir Marciano his debut against Morton.

The Israel international made his first appearance during this week’s under20s match against Hearts but gifted Jambos forward Bjorn Johnsen a goal in the 2-2 draw.
