No Caley Thistle deal for Gunning
Caley Thistle will not offer trialist defender Gavin Gunning a contract.
Inverness manager Richie Foran had taken the former Dundee United player on trial this week, with the Irishman playing in Tuesday’s 3-1 Development League defeat by Motherwell.
Despite Foran being keen to sign a central defender after Kevin McNaughtonwasruled out for several months with an Achilles injury, the manager has decided against a deal for Gunning.
Inverness host St Johnstone today and Foran hopes his players can lift the Highlanders out of their early-season slump.
Inverness are bottom of the table having failed to take a point from their opening three league matches, in which they have conceded 10 goals.
Foran revealed his squad held a talk without him present in the wake of last weekend’s crushing 5-1 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle.
He said: “There’s no panic. We’re keeping everyone positive. The players had a chat among themselves last week after I left the dressing room. I don’t know what was said – I’ll leave that up to them.”
