Service to mark life of politician
A memorial service will take place to celebrate the life of a Shetland politician.
Danus Skene will be remembered at St Columba’s Church, in Lerwick, on October 28, at 3pm.
The 72-year old SNP politician died last month after undergoing surgery in a London hospital.
He stood as the SNP candidate in the Scottish Parliament and the Westminster election, losing narrowly to Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael.
The retiring collection will be for the Tarnos School, in Kenya, of which he was the founder.
