Surgeons’ reputations ‘jeopardised’
SIR, – I am delighted Professor Zygmunt Krukowski and his seven colleagues from NHS Grampian have been cleared of any wrongdoing by the General Medical Council.
Surely now the Scottish Information Commission should insist that NHS Grampian release the entire report compiled by the Royal College of Surgeons England, instead of just the limited amount the health board released previously.
NHS Grampian need to provide answers to many of the questions the public of the north-east, the patients and staff of NHS Grampian still deem are left unanswered in relation to this outrageous fiasco.
This has been yet another very sorry state of affairs within NHS Grampian, not only costing millions, which could have been better spent on patient care, but it has also unacceptably jeopardised the reputations of all these dedicated medical professionals.
Professor Krukowski is held in the highest regard by his surgical colleagues throughout the United Kingdom and far beyond, and as a result of this disgraceful and unwarranted denunciation by NHS Grampian management, his unfortunate departure has now denied patients the benefit of his renowned expertise. This is all totally unacceptable.
