Lifeboat rescues fishing boat

A north lifeboat was launched yesterday after a fishing boat broke down off the west coast of Lochaber.

Mallaig lifeboat was called out just before 10am after one of four crewmember­s on board the 59ft vessel raised the alarm after the boat suffered engine failure, five miles off the coast of Mallaig.

A coastguard spokesman said that the lifeboat towed the vessel back to Mallaig harbour and local coastguard volunteers helped berth it.

The spokesman added that nowater was taken on board and no one was hurt.
