Oyster Inn on loch’s shores could be a jewel for new owner

- BY RITA CAMPBELL

A village inn by the landmark Connel Bridge in Argyll is set to change hands after being put up for sale.

The Oyster Inn is a bar and restaurant with letting rooms near Oban by the shores of Loch Etive.

No price has been given at this stage, with estate agent Christie and Co simply stating “offers invited”.

A former coaching inn dating back to the 18th century, the business has been under its current ownership since 2000 and is run under management.

Stuart Drysdale, associate director at Christie & Co, said: “This stone-built, traditional restaurant and bar is popular with both locals and tourists alike. The hotel also caters perfectly for families as well as all those who enjoy walking, fishing, diving and kayaking on the nearby coast.

“The business is especially busy in the summer months and the restaurant closes during the winter, with the rest of the hotel operating and food being served in The Glue Pot. This presents an ideal opportunity for either an independent buyer or existing operator to take a successful and well-established business even further.”
