Life-ban driver jailed

-

A man caught driving on an Argyll road despite being banned for life was jailed for six months yesterday.

Gordon Comrie, 64, pleaded guilty to driving on the A85 Oban to Tyndrum road, near the Glen Orchy junction, while disqualified on February 21.

Sheriff Ruth Anderson told him: “With your record I am firmly of the view that there is no realistic alternative than a custodial sentence.

“I will disqualify you from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 10 years, although I appreciate you are already subject to a life ban.”

Comrie, of Woodhill, Blairgowrie, had been residing in Loch Awe village at the time of the offence and police received information he was driving regularly.
