Tory ‘sellout’ of fishing no shock
SIR, – As a former fisherman and part boat owner, I find it utterly incredible that sensible people can be taken in by this “Save Britain’s Fishing” nonsense being banded around by so-called industry representatives.
Those of us who remember the sellout of Scottish Fishing by Ted Heath’s Conservatives in the early 1970s also see the same sellout happening again, only this time by Theresa May’s Conservatives.
With Brexit safely in the bag, suddenly Tory MP David Mundell announces that fishing cannot possibly be ruled out of the Brexit negotiations.
Perhaps a shock to some, but certainly not to others. Perhaps Brexiteer Michael Gove can explain this on his next visit to Fraserburgh or Peterhead, seeing as he claims the north-east has such a special place in his heart.
