Highland sitting pretty after victory

Highland claimed the bowls rewards in the Scottish Cities and Counties championship table-topping match against Bon Accord.

They finished with four winning rinks and lost on two in a 111-107 win at Macduff.

Pole position could change on Saturday as for the second week in succession, Perth found themselves without a game due to their match against Angus at Carnoustie West End being rained off before a bowl had been played.

They will try again on Saturday before the match against Buchan at Alyth.

Last season’s section winners Aberdeen and Kincardine notched up their first win of the season at the expense of Northern Counties at Inverurie.

Wins on the rinks skipped by Phil Lawson, Connor Milne, Neil Burnett and Paul Hay and a draw for Mike Mennie offset a defeat for Colin Banks as they got home 121-97.
