Deal struck by city firms

- BY KEITH FINDLAY

An Aberdeen-based recruitment specialist has acquired a city rival in a deal expected to create a new, locally-owned market leader with combined turnover of more than £14million.

Cammach Recruitment said yesterday it had paid an undisclosed sum for Bryant Group, which continues to trade under its own name.

The acquired company’s founder, Brenda Bryant, is retiring after 37 years in the recruitment sector. Longstanding key members of staff will remain with the business, which Cammach managing director Susan Duguid said was “a perfect fit”.

The englarged firm occupies Bryant’s offices at 440 Union Street and will house 16 staff on three floors.

Cammach said the deal further strengthened its energy sector expertise and considerably extended the number of contracts with North Sea oil and gas operators, while also doubling the number of contractors to more than 200.

Ms Duguid added: “I am confident the acquisition will lead to an even stronger offering and continued growth.”

Cammach, previously in Greenbank Road, notched up turnover of £6.7million during the 12 months to August, a near 30% increase on its previous year’s £5.2million. Bryant recorded turnover of £7.5million during the year to May.
