Deveronvale deal secures Watson’s welcome return
Journeyman goalkeeper Errol Watson has joined Deveronvale on a short-term deal.
The 33-year-old from Insch, who was with Elgin City last season, had already played for the Banffers twice this term.
The former Lossiemouth, Formartine United, Clachnacuddin and Inverurie Locos player, pictured, said: “I played for Vale in the games against Wick Academy and Keith, both of which we won, which was good.
“I am semi-retired from football after being with Elgin City for the whole of last season and unfortunately not getting a game, although I really enjoyed my time at Borough Briggs.
“I haven’t committed myself to Vale for any longer than a couple of months just to see how I get on, and if I get the motivation back for the game.”
The Banff club has made a promising start to the season and Watson, who made his Highland League debut for Lossiemouth in 2012, added: “I’ve really been impressed in Vale, they’re a really good and fit young side and really good on the counter-attack. In the two games I played we hammered the opposition in the second half

because of that level of fitness. I have been impressed with Vale manager Stevie Dolan, he’s a good guy who is doing an excellent job at Princess Royal Park.”
Deveronvale manager Dolan said: “Errol has been good enough to help us out on a couple of occasions this season and will do so again for our Scottish Cup first round match at home to Lowland League side Hawick Royal Albert, as unfortunately Grant Pennet is unavailable for that match.
“James Blanchard is waiting for news on the timing of his knee operation and Matthew Mackie has yet to return from a summer coaching job in the US.”
