Making a splash

Finding a home that ticks all the boxes can be a challenge, but this cute bungalow makes it all too easy, writes Laura Redpath

When a potential home doesn’t include a certain amenity, it can be what the buyer would call a dealbreaker, and for me, the lack of a good kitchen and bathtub is this.

What compelled me to click “open” on the advert for this quaint home in Kemnay was the quality of the first two features onmy checklist.

The kitchen in 3, The Glebe is both spacious and practical. Attractively disguising the washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, the beech effect units are in great condition and look fantastic against the red terracotta tiling.

The worktop allows plenty of space for preparing food, while leaving room to display all the kitchen knickknacks that have spent most of their life hoarded in the attic.

The dining area sits at the room’s end where access to the bright living area is given through a glass panel door.

With a large amount of natural light coming though its wide window and patio doors, this aspect of the three-bedroom home is a focal point alongside the fireplace, which can be powered with electricity or gas.

Each of the bedrooms have plenty of space for a double bed and the master boasts a built-in wardrobe and splendid countryside views.

But if three happens to be a crowd, one can be used for a second sitting room or study.

The perfect-for-summer barbecue-parties garden has been well looked after with scenic flower beds decorating the paths, which lead to a fruit garden, pond, stunning water feature and summerhouse, which is included in the £250,000 asking price.

But let’s not forget the second homely staple on my checklist.

The bath in this home is what dream soaks before bed are made of.

It’s one thing to come home from work and enjoy the bubbles, but do so in a Jacuzzi is quite another.

The bathroom, which also boasts a stunning blue Amtico Mediterranean floor, has plenty of storage space and fitted heated towel rail, perfect for those cold and wintry mornings.

With Kemnay regarded one of the top commuter spots for those working in Aberdeen and the surrounding area, the home will suit those with a busy working life while providing a charming place to relax in during out-of-office hours.
