A fashion designer is offering fans the chance to own jeans from the personal wardrobes of A-list celebrities such as KateMoss, Victoria Beckham, Ryan Gosling and Emma Watson.
One hundred pairs of celebrity denims have been given an eye- catching makeover by designer and artist JohnyDar and will be auctioned for his Jeans For Refugees project, which raises money for the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
The first 15 pairs – donated by Sharon Stone, Pink, ElleMacpherson, Lily Allen, Eva Longoria, Heather Graham, Joan Smalls, Alicia Vikander, Sofia Coppola, Rachel McAdams, Zoe Saldana, Tal, Jessica Hart, plusWatson and Moss – open for bidding on online auction site Catawiki today. More trousers that have graced the legs of stars from Sir Elton John to Claudia Schiffer will be released for sale over the next 100 days, giving fans the chance to add a unique piece of celebrity memorabilia to their wardrobe.
Dar said: “The refugee crisis has had an impact on everyone – itmoves us all, it concerns us all.
“The concept behind Jeans For Refugees is to spread a message through art, to create positive change and empower people to collaborate foracommon goal, painting a new paradigm and inspiring a brighter world.”
If the skinny jeans or their price tags prove too much of a stretch, the lots will be on view at a weeklong exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
In addition, Dar will be painting a number of jeans in a non-stop live art performance over 10 days at a refugee camp to highlight the endurance and determination of the refugees.
