Winning £ 50 wor th of Marks and Spencer vouchers from the Press and Journal has come as a complete surprise for two Aberdeenshire residents.
Andrew Nicol, 81, and Edith Ross shared their delight atwinningthecompetition, despite neither of them expecting to hit the jackpot.
Mr Nicol, who has read the paper for as long as he can remember, said he was thrilled to find out he’d scored the £50, especially as he had ever won anything before.
He said: “I’ve read the Press and Journal all my life, so to win the competition was brilliant; I’ve never won anything like this before.
“I’d definitely be keen to enter more competitions like this before; it’s been a really pleasant surprise.
“I think I’m going to spend the money by treating myself to a new jacket and after this stroke of luck I’d probably recommend other people to enter.”
Retired Mrs Ross said she was thrilled to have won and that the money would likely be spent on a nice family meal.
She said: “I’ve been reading the paper since 1977 and I don’t often enter phone competitions but things like this I always enjoy because you just never know whether you might win. There is an M&S food near my house so I think the vouchers will go there and perhaps do a nice meal for the family or something like that.”
