Schoolgirl in hospital as friends rush to help family with cash

A 15-year-old schoolgirl from Inverness is in a serious condition in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car.

The family of Morgan Maclean has been left “devastated” following the incident on Friday night on Sir Walter Scott Drive in the Highland capital.

It is understood the Inverness High School pupil was transferre­d by air ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

Friends and relatives had donated more than £1,400 within a few hours yesterday, after a fundraisin­g page was created to help her family.

Isobel Bennie, a family friend who set up the appeal, wrote yesterday: “Morgan is still in a coma but is responding to doctors and is said to be serious but stable condition.

“Thefamily are obviously devastated at the news. Mother Trisha has been by her bedside constantly in Edinburgh sick children’s hospital.”

She added: “Keep praying for us that Morgan makes a full recovery.”

The incident happened at about 11pm on Friday night near the Inshes Roundabout and close to Inshes Retail Park.

The police issued an appeal at the weekend for any witnesses to come forward.

No one else was injured in the incident, which involved a blue Volvo C30.

Morgan, who has a younger brother and a younger sister, was taken to nearby Raigmore Hospital before being transferre­d to Edinburgh. It is understood she required treatment for brain and pelvis injuries.

Her latest condition was not known last night.

Friends said yesterday theywere praying for her recovery as donations flooded in.

Julie Lavelle wrote: “Thinking of you all through this awful ordeal. Wishing Morgan a speedy recovery.”

Lynn Chinskie said: “Wishing a speedy recovery Morgan. Thinking of all your family at this very tragic, sad time.”

spokesman said: “At this time Police Scotland would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident.

“If you have any informatio­n in relation to this matter please phone dialling 101.”
