On spot for Black and Golds
Attacker Robbie Duncanson is relishing his new role as Huntly’s penalty-taker. The 32-year-old former Clachnacuddin, Deveronvale and Nairn County player has scored six goals for his new club in as many games, including four goals from the spot. He scored twice in Saturday’s 2-1 Scottish Cup win at Girvan, including one from 12 yards and the Invernessbased attacker said: “We haven’t started the Highland League season too well, and it didn’t help I missed most of the first month because I had lots of other things to do. “It was good to get going and start scoring on a fairly regular basis. “I used to take quite a few penalties in my early career at Clachnacuddin and carried that one when I went to Nairn, although only after Conor Gethins missed out from the spot. Any time he failed to score a penalty, I was always next in line.” Despite the long trip to Ayrshire he acquitted himself well the following morning, when he added: “I took part in the 10k race which is part of the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon. Saturday was a really long day for me, and it probably didn’t help me the next morning that we did have a bit of a celebration.” Duncanson is looking forward to this Saturday’s Christie Park derby against Keith, and said: “This is a new one for me, I used to enjoy playing for Clach against Nairn, and vice-versa, and for Deveronvale against Buckie Thistle, so it will be interesting to compare this one.”
