Glen event’s charity boost
More than £50,000 has been raised for rural charity RSABI following its Great Glen Challenge last month.
The charity, which provides financial assistance to those who have relied on the land, holds the one-day challenge every year to try and raise funds.
This year’s event saw 92 participants from 23 rural businesses either run, cycle or kayak through the Great Glen from Invermoriston to Neptune’s Staircase.
The top title went to a team from Watson Seeds, with teams from CKD Galbraith finishing in second and third place. To date £50,146 has been raised from the challenge and RSABI plans to put the funds towards its latest campaign to put an end to rural poverty.

“Helping an ever increasing number of people”
officer, Paul Tinson, said: “We are once again delighted with the total amount raised, and my colleagues and I thank all those who took part in Great Glen Challenge 2016, our headline sponsors, Ledingham Chalmers, solicitors, our partner organisations, volunteer stewards and the hundreds of people who have donated so generously up and down the country to our current fundraising campaign – Help Us Help Them, aiming to raise £150,000 by next spring.
“As everyone knows, we are helping an ever increasing number of people throughout Scotland’s rural sector who continue to face widespread challenges. If you, or someone you know is not coping, RSABI urges you to call 0300 111 4166, alternatively please do call the number to donate to the campaign and become a supporter.”
