Deeside developing

-

Deeside may have lost nearly 20 players during the summer, but the Banchory-based club will press on against Shetland at Woodend tomorrow in Caledonia 2 North (East).

Club president Ian Finlayson said: “Despite the blow of having to decline promotion to Caledonia 1, we are doing our best.

“It has been a difficult few months but we are trying to produce more local players.

“We have an excellent facility and have just been granted planning permission for a new clubhouse.

“Add that to our underage teams and we have a club in the process of developing.

“We do, however, need to recruit seniors and would be delighted to hear from ambitious players interested in joining us.”

First and second-placed Banff and Garioch meet at Duff House, while Aberdeen Grammar seconds take on Ellon at Rubislaw.

In Caledonia 1, Gordonians are at Carnoustie while Mackie FPs travel to Fife to play Glenrothes.

In Caledonia 2 North (West), the big match is at Lossiemouth where the RAF team take on Moray. Highland 2nds host Stornoway and Lochaber meet Ross Sutherland at Fort William.

In Caledonia 3 (North), Shire thirds are at home to Aberdeen University, North Scotland Police play Gordonians seconds, Fraserburgh host the Medics and Peterhead are at home to Inverness Craig Dunain.
