Nicolson sidelined

-

Caithness have been dealt a blow after right wing Andrew Nicolson was ruled out for up to 18 months after breaking and dislocating his leg in last week’s 268 win at Strathmore.

Nicolson’s injury came midway through the second half of the victory at Forfar, which kept Caithness top of Caledonia 1.

Caithness head coach Tom McGee is hopeful Nicolson will make a full recovery from the injury and said: “It was horrendous but it was an innocuous incident. He was in a lot of pain but he’s had his operation already and all went well. He could be out for anything from 12 to 18 months.”

Nicolson i s one of numerous absentees for tomorrow’s league trip to Aberdeen Wanderers, with Grant Anderson, John Miller, Danny Gordon and Graham Fryer working offshore. McGee hopes his depleted side can make it back-to-back victories against newly-promoted Wanderers and added: “The Strathmore game was a really important one for us in terms of confidence.

“We lost a tight game against Gordonians while, against Alloa, we weren’t really up to it.

“Strathmore was a big one for us and I was really pleased as we totally dominated possession and territory.

“If I was being picky and had one disappointment, it was the result did not reflect how much dominance we had. We have another long journey this weekend, so that will be three on the bounce. The key for us is to play to our strengths.”
