Orkney inspiration
Last week’s superb 29-15 victory at Perthshire should encourage Orkney’s players to attain even greater heights when they welcomethird-placedLasswade to Pickaquoy tomorrow.
Orkney, fifth in the table, are well aware the Bonnyrigg club will also have been boosted by last weekend’s 22- 21 home win against newly-promoted Highland.
Orkney head coach Paul Livingstone said: “I am still getting toknoweveryoneat the club and our start has been a bit mixed, with two wins and two defeats, but I dothink thatplayingonthe main pitch at Pickaquoy will work to our advantage.
“Our hotandcold start to the new season could have been much better. We really should have beaten Haddington at home a fortnight ago. We ended up losing 29-26, but if we hadn’t dropped the ball twice when camped on the Haddington line it would have been a different story.
“Lasswade had a good win against Highland, who have done well since being promoted, and will take confidence from it.
“We have been without quite a fewplayers, but one or two niggling injuries have started to clearupand I expect us to field a much stronger team.”
Lasswade intend to make this weekend’s visit to Orkney a memorable one and will travel tonight before returning home on Sunday.
Livingstone added: “Perhaps we should make sure they all enjoy themselves.”
