- BY JACK NIXON

CALEDONIA LEAGUES

Gordonians will chase maximum points tomorrow when they head for Stonehaven, where they meet winless Mackie FPs in a top versus bottom match in Caledonia 1. After the high of winning the Caledonia Regional Shield final against Strathmore on Saturday, Jim Sugden, the Gordonians president, is determined there will be no mistakes. He said: “Mackie may not have won a game but they will get our total respect, although our players will be on a high after that win last week.” The Countesswells league leaders will also be keeping an eye on the outcome of Caithness versus Alloa match which brings together the two teams most likely to offer a serious challenge to double hopes. Sugden added: “It is up to us to keep up the pressure. “We are four points to the good and have a game in hand on Caithness and two on Alloa and Glenrothes, who are not yet out of it. It's good place to be.” At the other end of the table, Aberdeen Wanderers can take a huge step towards easing relegation fears should they beat Strathmore at Groats Road, but will find the Angus side in determined mood after its sterling performance in last week's final which they lost 13-5. “We have been concentrating on doing the basics in training. We watched Strathie last Saturday and know what they will bring to the game,” said Russell Arthur, the joint coach forWanderers. In Caledonia 2 (North) Garioch can go top as both Banff and Moray, who are in first and second place, are not playing, although the Inverurie side will be tested by RAF Lossiemouth who will still be smarting after losing 8-6 in Saturday's Caledonia Regional Bowl to Moray. Highland 2nds host Aberdeen Grammar 2nds in the same section. In the relegation playoffs in Caledonia 2 (North) Deeside meet Lochaber, Stornoway are at home to Shetland and Ross Sutherland play Ellon at Invergordon. In Caledonia 3 (North) leaders Aberdeen University Medics travel to Woodside to face Aberdeenshire 3rds, while secondplaced Aberdeen University meet AberdeenWanderers 2nds. North Scotland Police host Dyce, Gordonians 2nds are at home to Huntly and Inverness Craig Dunain entertain Fraserburgh in Inverness.
