Highland decisive

It’s make or break time for Highland in the chase for promotion when they travel to third- placed Dumfries Saints tomorrow.

Highland came out on top 13-12 when the sides met in Inverness on October 15 but since then Dave Carson’s men have slipped to fifth in the table and lost 20- 17 to Royal High Corstorphine in Edinburgh last time out.

Coach Davie Carson knows only a win will do and said: “We can’t afford to drop any more points. They’re in third spot and we’re in fifth place but they’re only four points ahead of us. We have taken another look at the video from the last time we played them and we are now a stronger side with a lot of players back from injury.”

Highland will be strengthened by the return of captain Andrew Findlater after two months out with a shoulder injury and Carson said: “He will make a massive difference.

“He normally plays at number eight but we are moving him to 12 this week to ease him back into it.

“There was no pressure onthe players at the start of the season, we didn’t know what to expect and played the same type of rugby we’re been playing over the last couple of years.

“We got the results but perhaps the pressure of being in a higher league eventually got to the players when we got to the top of the table.

“We’ll be telling them to just go out and enjoy it and play like we did at the beginning of the season.”
