Perfect week for dynamic Dandies

-

As good weeks go it’s been a pretty enjoyable one for the Aberdeen supporters.

They are through to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, where they landed a home draw, Andy Considine has signed a new contract and Derek McInnes has pledged his future to the club.

Is it any wonder they scored seven goals on Wednesday?

It’s been a great week for the Dons.

The manager’s stock has never been higher and the fact the club is not entertaining the notion of him leaving for Rangers and the manager is sold on the job he has to do there is significant.

Slowly but surely the Dons are building brick by brick and I expect they will look back on this week as being a significant one in the club’s recent history.

The fact the manager has decided to pledge his future to the Dons is massive. In the past if managers got an opportunity to go to either of the Old Firm it was a question of when, rather than if, they would go.

McInnes believes he has unfinished business at Aberdeen and his players clearly enjoy working for him.

He has taken the club to one cup final already this season and the Dons are well placed to return to Hampden for the Scottish Cup final in May if they can get past Partick Thistle next month.

The league is gone, but the Dons have second place to go for and they’re looking in no mood to relinquish their place as the second best team in the country.

They’ve moved three points clear of Rangers and can double that advantage before the Gers kick a ball again by beating Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Throw in the chance to go back to Hampden and there’s still much to keep the players, management and supporters focused at Pittodrie.
