Bannerman at head of affairs at Elgin after Tenerife training

Scotland road running internatio­nal Jenny Bannerman returned from a spell of warm weather training in Tenerife to take top spot in the Elgin parkrun 5km.

The Inverness Harriers club member clocked 17min 33sec, just 9sec outside her course record, to finish at the head of a field of 152 runners.

Youngster Blair Milne (Moray Road Runners) was 3sec behind in second position, while his brother Joshua was third in 17:45.

Elizabeth Watson (Forres Harriers) was second woman in a personal best 22:21, with Hannah Longworth also achieving her fastest time of 23:30 in third spot.

Michael Barker recorded 17:14 to finish 14sec ahead of his Stone haven club mate Jason Kelly at the head of a field of 283 in the Aberdeen parkrun 5km. Kelly’s time is the quickest he has run at the beach promenade, as was the 17:39 recorded by third-placed Jamie Ross (Deeside Runners).

Sarah Milne ( Metro Aberdeen) was only a second outside her best when leading the women’s division of the run in 20:01, while Emily Cossar (Aberdeen AAC) finished second in 20:56 and Claire Gauld was third in 21:22.

Jamie Coventry (Metro Aberdeen) finished ahead of a field of 177 in the Aberdeen Hazlehead parkrun 5km, recording 18:18 while veteran David Ewen was second in 19:06, 10sec ahead of Craig Park.

Veteran Carolyn Milne (Garioch Road Runners) was first woman in 20:07 with Hazel Wyness (Metro Aberdeen) second in 20:24 while her clubmate Ruth Wolfe was third in 22:32.

Youngster Luke Williams Inverness Harriers) topped the bill at the Inverness parkrun 5km, clocking 18: 52 to finish 47sec clear of Stuart Forrest (Highland Hill Runners) with Martin Gordon third in 19:53. Veteran Julie Wilson (Inverness Harriers) was first woman in 21:28 with Louise Crilly (Garscube Harriers) pipping Anna MacArthur ( Triathlon Inverness) by 4sec to take second position in 22:58.

Gavin Clunie ( Stonehaven Running Club) clocked 22:20 to take top spot in the Stonehaven parkrun 5km in which five of the top six finishers all achieved their fastest times for the Mineralwel­l course. He was followed by Barry McGillivra­y in 23:00 and Karl Creamer who was outside his best in 23:16.

The next three positions were filled by the Ogston family with dad Alex recording 24: 01, while daughter Alex Diane was first woman in 24:14, a second ahead of mum Stacey. Kerri Keddie was third woman in 25:21.
