Oswald quick off mark at Village

“Bostock powered to victory in 1:45:01”

Scotland internatio­nal Ryan Oswald won a competitiv­e 150 metres sprint in the Aberdeen Sports Village open graded meeting.

The former national champion clocked 16.59sec to pip Aberdeen AAC clubmate David Irvine, 16.92, while Myles Nelson was third in 17.43. Irvine won the 60 min 7.17 from Harry Kilner, 7.36, and Fergus Rule, 7.44.

Aberdeen AAC’s Katie Forbes achieved the fastest women’s 150m time of 18.79 followed by Eleanor Briggs ( Inverness Harriers), 19.33, and Robert Gordon University student Eilidh De Klerk, 19.56.

Briggs shared the fastest 60m time of the day, 8.03 with Aberdeen AAC’ s Grace Carter with Sophia Hamilton third in 8.06.

Veteran Robert Harrison (Monifieth Tri Club) won the Aboyne duathlon long course race with a time of 1hr 21min 58sec for the 4.2km run, 30km cycle, 4.2km run. Jamie Collins (Three Peaks) was runnerup in 1:26:20 and Nathan Andrews (Fleet Feet) took third spot in 1:26:35.

Clare Bostock’s strength on the running stages earned her a victory over Fleet Feet clubmate Tracey Sahraie in the women’s competitio­n. Bostock, who was behind after the cycling stage, powered to victory in 1:45:01 with Sahraie second in 1:46:44 while Amy Forbes (Ronde Cycling Club) finished third in 1:47:32.

Tom Jenkins was a clear winner of the short course race, recording a combined time of 1hr 1min for the 4.2km run, 15km cycle, 4.2km run.

Craig Beattie ( Metro Aberdeen) produced a strong second run to take second position in 1:04:48, with Kevin Morice (Three Peaks) 14sec behind in third position.

Chemaine Pickard won the women’s prize in 1:15:23 with Lauren Mcgregor (Fleet Feet) second in 1:17:02 and Catherine Webber third in 1:22:58.
