Revamped family home for bargain price

-

When it comes to the picture-perfect family home, we all dream of plenty of space for the kids and perhaps the added bonus of a warm and friendly community.

That was certainly the vision Euan and Lynsey Macalister had in mind when they moved intoNumber Seven, Greenfields at Cultercullen near Ellon.

Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac, the four-bedroom home was an impressive new build when the couple moved in, but clever changes have added plenty of character and versatility.

It has been a first home for six-year-old Tom and Adam, three, so the move will be filled with plenty of nostalgia.

Euan, 37, who is a business development manager, and Lynsey, 36, who is a stay-at-home mum, are hoping to live more rurally, but are proud of what they’ve created during their seven years at Greenfields.

“We’ll be sad to leave because this is the only house the boys have ever known; we hope to stay in the area becausewelike it somuch,” said Lynsey.

Everything about Number Seven is geared towards family life, including the impressive dining kitchen.

It is now a lovely openplan space after Euan and Lynsey decided to add a beautiful sunroom extension which makes for a great family room area.

Built on an open-plan level with the kitchen, it means you’ve got the perfect entertaining space.

“The extension has really made such a difference to our home and it’s now such a fantastic area for the kids to play or for entertaining our friends,” said Lynsey.

“In the summer, it’s lovely to have the doors open on to the garden, and the vaulted ceiling with beams gives an amazing sense of space. It gets all of the morning sun so it’s a great place to sit and watch the sunrise with a coffee.”

The kitchen itself has a breakfast bar and dining area, and it has been fitted with AEG appliances.

Whether you’re cooking for guests or want to keep an eye on the kids, this space has been seamlessly adapted for family living at its best.

If you’re not relaxing in the family area, you can recline in the elegant lounge where there are patio doors to the garden.

There is also a playroom downstairs, but this room could be used as a study.

Head upstairs where you’ll find the spacious master bedroom.

This room has been tastefully decorated and comes with fitted wardrobes alongside an ensuite shower room.
