Prime heifers (nine) averaged 210.5p (-9.2p) and sold to 216.0p a kg for a 545kg Char X from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, to Fraser Brothers Butchers, and £1,250 for a 625kg Char X also from Bridgend Farm to John M. SQQ 36.5kg to 45.5kg (2,046) averaged 194.7p (+13.9p) a kg. Ewes (1,453) averaged £78.79 and sold to £145 for a Tex from Wester Raddery, Fortrose. Rams and feeding sheep (109) averaged £62.61 and sold to £110 for Suff rams from Torgormack, Beauly. Heifers (386) averaged 226.4p and sold to 294.4p a kg and £1,310 for a 445kg Char from Wester Craiglands, Fortrose. Robertson’s of Tain, Harbro and Zoetis and Surecalf sponsored the show and sale of store cattle judged by C. MacIver, Easter Strath of Auchterflow, Killen, who awarded the overall championship to a 490kg Lim X bullock from W. Kellas, Burnside Croft, Strathpeffer, and realising £1,200 to Backmuir Livestock, Keith. Reserve champion was a 410kg Lim X heifer from W. Mackintosh, Lyne of Urchany Farm, Nairn, and realising £1,100 to the judge. All classes met an extremely firm demand.
