Weather prediction blows hot and cold for weekend
Forecast: Fine days ahead for the east – but outlook gloomy to the west
The north and north-east of Scotland will experience vastly divergent fortunes when it comes to the weather this weekend.
People in Aberdeen city and shire are expected to encounter clear skies and hot temperatures over the course of today and tomorrow, whereas people in the Highlands and Islands are expected to see much cooler weather.
Residents of the Granite City are likely to encounter the warmest days of the month so far, with temperatures likely to be up around the 25C mark. Meanwhile, people in Lerwick will not encounter this high as there the mercury is only expect to rise as high as 14C.
A Met Office spokesman revealed details of the divergent fortunes people living on either side of Scotland will encounter with the weather this weekend.
He said: “Across the east of the country it looks like it is going to be a fine weekend.
“Aberdeen looks like it will enjoy the good weather with temperatures set to be around 25 to 26C and mostly sunshine.
“This will be the hottest temperatures in the area so far this month but not so far this year as we saw 28C in May.
“But over on the west it looks like there will be more clouds and cooler temperatures.
“On the Western Isles and Northern Isles it looks like it will be a lot colder.”
He also went on to say that the good weather is expected to continue throughout the weekend.
He said: “On Sunday we expect temperatures in the north-east to be around 20 to 25C.
“Going into the start of the next week there may be some clouds but lots of places will experience clear skies.
“Temperatures in the east are expected to remain at highs of 20C.
“We expect spells of wind resulting in cooler temperatures.”
