De Lange desperate for repeat in capital

Cricket: Scots vice-captain looks to gain momentum

-

Scotland spin bowler Con de Lange is ready to prove that the midweek triumph against Zimbabwe was no flash in the pan.

The sides go into the fray again in Edinburgh today with the hosts keen to repeat their feat on Thursday when they grabbed their first one-day international success against a Test-playing nation.

Vice-captain de Lange reckons the ability to absorb pressure will be the key to completing a remarkable double.

De Lange claimed five wickets to play a major part in the Raeburn Place win.

As he stepped up preparations for the rematch, he said: “Thursday was nerve-racking but very enjoyable because that is what we train for.

“The batsmen performed really well by absorbing the pressure before expressing themselves.

“As a bowler, it always makes it easier when the opposition are having to chase more than 300.”

De Lange was backed up by captain Kyle Coetzer, whose century laid the foundations for the victory.

But Coetzer will order his history-makers not to drop their guard.

He said: “In the past we have struggled to keep up the momentum after a good victory.

“We have become notorious for not turning up second time around, so the big aim is not to let that happen again.”
