Woman, 23, in court on murder-bid charge
Police: Allegations in connection with series of incidents
A woman appeared in court on a charge of attempted murder yesterday after a disturbance in Inverness.
Chelsea Brown faced two charges after a 57-year-old woman was seriously injured in the city.
Along with the attempted murder charge, the 23-year-old was accused of theft when she appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon.
She appeared in private before Sheriff Margaret Neilson to face the two charges.
She was represented by defence solicitor John MacColl.
Brown made no plea during the brief appearance and was committed for further examination. She has been remanded in custody.
The charges are in connection with a series of incidents in the Kinmylies area of Inverness in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police confirmed that they responded to a “disturbance” at a property in Suilven Way at around 5.10am on Sunday.
Following the incident, a 57-year-old woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police also confirmed that they were alerted to thefts from residential properties in Suilven Way and nearby Assynt Place between 12.30am and 5am the same day. A spokeswoman for the force confirmed that property which had allegedly been removed was later found and returned.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Peter Mackenzie offered reassurance to the public following the incident.
Officers maintained a public presence in the area yesterday carrying out to door-to-door inquiries.
DI Mackenzie said: “This is an extremely rare situation for Inverness but we appreciate that it has caused concern in the community.
“We are taking this matter extremely seriously and I would like to thank the community for their assistance and patience while we carried out our inquiries.”
