Tenants receive keys in final phase of development
A baker’s dozen of tenants received their keys this week in a final handover of 51 homes in Inverness.
The transactions took place at Ness Castle with Albyn Housing Society taking final handover of the properties in the first phase of building.
The development includes a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes for rent and sale under Albyn Enterprise’s lowcost home ownership scheme (LIFT).
All the homes have now been allocated, let or bought.
Supported by more than £2.5million in grant funding from the Scottish Government, the £6million project will be followed by a second phase of 27 units, due to commence construction later this year.
Speaking at the handover, Calum Macaulay, chief executive at Albyn Housing Society, said: “Earlier this year we announced the society’s ambition to once again become an affordable housing developer of scale, supported by the unique private finance deal we have secured with BAE Systems Pension Funds Investment Management Ltd as well as the Scottish Government.
“Today’s handover marks the completion of a phased handover of homes at our first partnership development at Ness Castle. It is also one of many handovers planned by Albyn Housing Society.”
Minister for Housing Kevin Stewart said: “I’m delighted that our investment has helped to make affordable housing a reality at this site.”
