Evans let go by sponsor

-

British tennis player Dan Evans has been dumped by clothing sponsor Ellesse after his positive test for cocaine. The 27-yearold faces a ban of up to four years. Evans signed with Ellesse in March after reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open wearing shirts he bought himself. Chase Koepka feels he is treading on US Open winning brother Brooks’ footprints at Spey Valley but the American wants to create SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge memories of his own this weekend.

Brooks Koepka secured his first major victory when he won by four strokes at Erin Hills this month with his second PGA Tour win.

The victory capped a remarkable rise to prominence for the 27-year-old, who won the Scottish Hydro Challenge event at Aviemore four years ago.

Chase, 23, is aiming to take the same path to success through the Challenge Tour and will compete at Spey Valley for the second successive year this weekend, aiming for his own success.

Koepka, from West Palm Beach, Florida, said: “I had such a warm welcome when I came here last year. Everyone speaks so highly of my brother, telling me stories of when they watched him play.

“I sent him a message earlier in the week telling him I feel like everywhere I go, he has a course record.

“He has left his footprints, they are certainly big footprints, but I don’t mind. It is awesome to see he won here and that sealed his promotion from the Challenge Tour to the European Tour with his third tournament win.

“It was my first professional event last year and, while I didn’t play too well, I do have a lot of good memories from here. Hopefully, if play better I can create some better memories this year.”

Chase says his brother’s recent US Open victory has still to sink in among his family.

He added: “Everyone is still very excited about him winning the US Open.

“I feel like it was a long time coming for him to win a big tournament like that, and I know he was really happy and I’m really proud to say my brother is a major champion.

“It is quite nice because he sets a very high bar which pushes me to keep going. He has been such a big mentor for me, especially pushing me to come and play in Europe, and to see him keep on doing well and to be top 10 in the world rankings is quite special.”

“He has left his footprints. They are big footprints, but I don’t mind”
