Caixinha targeting unity of spirit to lift hopes

-

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been driven to foster team spirit during the early stages of his tenure at Ibrox.

After back-to-back wins in the Premiership, the latest of which was a 4-1 win against Dundee, Caixinha is happy with the development of his players.

The Portuguese has pointed to the manner in which his side celebrates each goal as proof of a strong spirit and says there has been a conscious effort to get the squad working closer together.

“We started having a look at it in pre-season,” he said. “We analysed, not only the moments of the game, but the way we were celebrating the goals, so it is very important for us to celebrate together.

“It shows our team spirit as, in that moment, everyone is enthusiastic, happy and involved in it and I really believe when teams celebrate together

“Positives were much more than the points we didn’t like”

and celebrate enthusiastically, there is a strong spirit among the group.”

The Gers are fourth in the table after overcoming a tricky start to the season and a brace from Alfredo Morelos coupled with goals from Josh Windass and Carlos Pena hinted at progress for Caixinha’s men.

He added: “We played a good game and the positives were much more than the points we didn’t like. Winning and winning by four goals is something which is very good.

“The players who needed to score goals did to keep their level of confidence, so overall we need to be pleased.

“The quality of the play was very good. We maybe had opportunities to score a few more goals but the quality in the last third was all right, although some things we need to improve.

“The way we conceded the goal as well, I didn’t like it.”
