Winter Olympics bannears forRussia
Russia risks being barred from the Winter Olympics as it refuses to admit it ran a state-sponsored doping programme. It is also understood Russia is refusing to allow access to samples stored in the Moscow anti-doping laboratory
These two conditions are the last big items on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s “road map to compliance” for RUSADA.
The Russian drug-testing body was suspended in November 2015 following an investigation into allegations of cheating in Russian athletics.
Tomorrow’s Wada foundation board meeting in Seoul is the last scheduled chance for RUSADA to be restored to the anti-doping community before the International Olympic Committee’s executive board meets on December 5 to decide what involvement, if any, Russia should have in February’s Winter Olympics.
