Mullaney’s captaincy

Nottinghamshire have named allrounder Steven Mullaney as Chris Read’s successor as captain. Read retired at the end of last season and Mullaney will now lead Notts in the English county championship and 50-over cricket, with the Twenty20 captaincy yet to be decided. Mullaney joined Notts from Lancashire ahead of the 2010 campaign and was named the club’s county championship player of the year as they won promotion from Division 2 last term.

He also helped Notts win the Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest Twenty20 Blast in 2017.
