Charities ‘will lose £250m EU cash’

-

UK charities look set to lose more than £250million a year in EU funding because of Brexit, a new study has said.

Research by the Directory of Social Change (DSC) found hundreds of charities working in particular sectors such as overseas aid, research and conservation are likely to be hardest hit unless the government moves quickly.

The DSC’s findings state a no Brexit deal scenario could see “an even sharper shock to the system” if funds are suddenly cut off.

The DSC has called on the government to make clear what level of funding for charities will be maintained throughout the Brexit process, including a detailed definition of the conditions under which present EU funding levels will be guaranteed.
