Glasgow’s speedy solution
Glasgow Warriors have signed speedster Max McFarland on a partnership contract with Scotland 7s until the end of the season.
Should the winger emulate his sprint personal bests of 1.51sec over 10m and 3.63 over 30m, he would break the all time Glasgow Warriors speed record for those distances, currently set by Lee Jones.
A product of the Leinster Academy, Irish-born McFarland qualifies for Scotland through his grandfather from Glasgow and represented Scotland 7s previously at the 2014 Grand Prix Series in Manchester.
McFarland went to Clongowes Wood College, whose notable alumni include Irish rugby greats Gordon D’Arcy, Fergus McFadden and the Kearney brothers. The 24-year-old has represented Ireland at all age grade levels up to and including under-20s and won the All Ireland League with his club Clontarf in 2015.
McFarland said: “The opportunity to work under Dave Rennie was a huge pull to come to Glasgow.
“I’m really looking forward to training under his guidance.”
