Fraserburg­h: Christie dreaming of cup shock to top 1959 defeat of Dundee

Dave Milroy, Gordon Hay and substitute Brian Fraser were on target to earn Inverness Thistle victory against Killie. Thistle were sitting second bottom of the Highland League at the time. They were beaten 6-0 by Celtic in the fourth round. Ian Ferguson and Alex Cleland both netted hat-tricks as Rangers eased to victory at Pittodrie. Gordon Durie, David Robertson, Charlie Miller and Alexei Mikhailich­enko were also on target for the Gers, who went on to lift the cup by beating Hearts 5-1 in the final. Partick Thistle proved too strong in the most recent meeting between a top-flight club and a Highland League team.
