ELGAR’S ENIGMA VARIATIONS

-

Part of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra 2017-18 season, Elgar’s Enigma Variations take place at HMT in Aberdeen this Sunday.

Comprised of Elgar’s musical portrait gallery of his “friends pictured within”, it is both a miniature symphony and a uniquely revealing glimpse into the soul of a creative artist. In Nimrod, there is one of the most memorable moments in all of British music.

The programme includes Edvard Gried’s Holberg Suite, Alexander Glazunov and the Violin Concerto in A Minor and Edward Elgar’s Enigma variations, conducted by John Wilson. Wilson brings a unique touch to the music, causing each work to spring to life.

● The concert begins at 2pm and finishes at approximately 3.40pm on Sunday. It recorded for future use on BBC Radio 3. See www.bbc.co.uk/events/e3rhn3 will will be Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch. RZSS Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig, Kingussie. Visit www.highlandwildlifepark.org.
