Kilmallie are up against it for tie at Caol

-

Kilmallie midfielder Lewis Burrell suffered an elbow fracture in last weekend’s game at Oban Celtic and is out of tomorrow’s Camanachd Cup replay with Inveraray at Caol.

Manager Mark MacPherson rued his absentees and said requests for an earlier kick-off to Inveraray have been turned down.

He said: “It’s a great pity but X-rays this week have confirmed the fracture and Lewis will be out for some weeks. Adding to our problems, Steve Stewart has to go south tomorrow. We asked Inveraray for an earlier start so he could play but they cannot manage.”

The prize of a home quarter-final against Kyles Athletic adds zest to the replay and Inveraray will be without the highly-experienced

Daniel Stewart and Jordan MacPhee return for National Division table-toppers Kilmallie who fought a goal-less draw in the first tie at Inveraray on June 2 but have not yet played them in the league. Fraser Watt, the visitors’ young striker, carries a threat to the Canal Park side.

Both Oban teams are at home in MacAulay Cup quarter-finals, with Camanachd having a noon start for their tie with Ballachulish, while Celtic host holders Kyles Athletic at 3pm.

Celts have Craig Macmillan suspended and Ross Macmillan an injury doubt but Andy Macdonald returns, while Kyles will make a late decision on whether to rest Roddy Macdonald, who sustained a shin gash last weekend. Calum Miller, unfit last weekend, should be OK.

Camanachd have had a two-week break and Aidan MacIntyre is ready to return against the Jubilee Park side.
