Man, 51, killed in ‘targeted’ stabbing

-

A murder inquiry has been launched after the fatal stabbing of a man outside a house in North Lanarkshire.

Kevin McGuire, 51, was set upon by at least two men in Morar Street, Wishaw, early on Sunday.

He suffered several stab wounds and died later at Wishaw General Hospital.

Detectives launched the murder inquiry after the results of a post-mortem examination.

They believe Mr McGuire was the intended victim of the 12.30am knife attack.

Appealing for witnesses, Detective Inspector Carol Craig, of Police Scotland’s major investigation team, said: “This was a violent attack that cost Mr McGuire his life.

“This does not appear to be a random incident and I am content that Mr McGuire was the intended victim and this was indeed a targeted attack.”
