Bottoms up for booze retailers

-

SIR, – The much acclaimed SNP policy on minimum pricing of alcohol, which it was claimed would save lives, has completely backfired with alcohol sales actually on the increase since the introduction of the legislation.

Supermarkets and off licences must be rubbing their hands with glee at seeing the extra profits rolling in, thanks to the higher mark-up.

The SNP can now only increase the minimum price further stull, which will surely cause a dire reaction at the next Holyrood elections.
