Aberdeen Ladies return to league action this weekend as they look to escape from a second straight relegation.

The Dons will need to win their final two SBSSWPL Two games to have a chance of staying up, while hoping results go their way elsewhere.

First up for the Dons is a trip to the capital on Sunday as they face fifth-place Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale.

Following the decision last week to reverse a points deduction for fielding an in- eligible player, the Dons sit two points adrift of Glasgow Girls FC, who will host the league winners Motherwell.

Aberdeen coach Scott Duncan has urged his players to make the most of their chance of a reprieve.

He said: “The next two weeks are the biggest the club’s ever faced. Every player is buzzing for the game and determined to go down to Edinburgh this weekend and take home three points.

“The players I’ve spoken to over the past few days totally understand what is expected from them.”

Glasgow City’s Women’s Champions League ambitions appear to be over for another season after last year’s quarterfinalists Barcelona thrashed them 5-0.

The Scottish champions have only once got past the last 16 of the competition.

They look likely to have to wait another year to match that achievement.

First-half goals by Kheira Hamraoui, Aitana Bonmati and Patricia Guijarro had the Spanish champions cruising.

After the break, Andressa Alves and Maria Leon added a fourth and fifth.

After being knocked out of the Scottish Cup by title rivals Hibs ,City now face a rematch on Sunday as they attempt to claim an 11th SWPL title.
