Accused of attack and theft of bike

A man has appeared in court accused of carrying out an assault and robbery in Aberdeen.

Darren Ewen has been charged with punching a man and stealing a wallet and bicycle in Victoria Lane in Torry on Wednesday July 1.

The 29-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Ewen, of Roslin Street in Aberdeen, was released on bail.

The case will return to court in November.

Police said inquiries are continuing in a bid to trace two more men who are believed to have been involved.

At the time, the force alleged that a man had been attacked and a black and orange Carrera mountain bike stolen.

Torry councillor Audrey Nicoll urged locals to “support the work being done by the police and find the people responsible”.
