NIRmaintenance contracatwarded to CAFRailUK
CAFRAILUKwill continueto maintain Northern Ireland Railways'fleetof 3000Class DMUsafterTranslinkrenewed the contract,worth morethan £53million.
Thenew contract runsfor 15 years(startingin April),with the work taking placeat Belfast's YorkRoadand Adelaidedepots.
The 23 3000Classunits were built by CAFat its Zaragoza plant in Spain,and entered servicefrom 2004.Theyare usedin three- and six-car formationsacrossthe network.
Thetrain makeris also currently manufacturingan additional 56 intermediatecars for NIR's4000ClassDMUs.
