£8millionfaceliftplanned for Aberdeenstation

SCOTRAILhasannouncedthat an £8million redevelopmentof Aberdeenstation will begin later this year.

The project will deliver better passengerand retail facilities, including a relocatedand improved ticket office and First Classlounge, improvements to the taxi rank and cycle parking,and better linksto the city centre via an upgraded Union Squareentrance.

Staffaccommodationwill also be redeveloped,with contractorsworking with the RailwayHeritageTrustto enhancethe listed buildings and deliver the alterations sympathetically.

The project will be completed in stagesover the next year.

Thework follows Network Rail'sreplacementof the station'sextensiveglassroof in 2019.
