HSTpower carsmove to Leicesterdepot
THREEformer EastMidlands Railway(EMR)HSTpower cars - Nos.4305243054and 43066 - were removedfrom storeat LongMarstonand movedto Leicesterdepot on June 16. Thetrio areexpectedto becomepart of the Midland Mainline test train pool, which is currently basedat Leicester and includesseveralMk3 carriages- a Class90 and 91 normallytop-and-tailed by Rail OperationsGroupClass47s.
Theuseof HSTswill permit running speedshigher than currently available,and be more closelymatchedfor monitoring the OLE/pantographinterface aheadof when the Class360 electricsbegin work later this year,and eventuallythe EMR Class805 bi-modeson order from Hitachi.
The power cars,seen passingHinckleybehind No.37884Cerpheusc,ould be usedon NetworkRail'snew measurement rain, too.
